Wedding Repertoire of James Weinberg

A Representative List of Popular Pieces

Audio links below will open in your browser or default MP3 player.

The first thing to choose is music for the 15-20 minutes prior to the service, including music for seating the mothers. There is nothing more popular than the celebrated "Canon in D" by Johann Pachelbel. The bridesmaids' processional most often used is the "Trumpet Voluntary" by Jeremiah Clarke (Princess Diana's processional), also known as "The Prince of Denmark's Marche." Congregational hymns, solos, or special pieces may also be selected. The traditional wedding march is Wagner's "Bridal Chorus" from the opera Lohengrin, commonly known as "Here Comes the Bride." The traditional recessional is Felix Mendelssohn's "Wedding March" from A Midsummer Night's Dream, also known as the theme from The Newlywed Game. Alternate pieces just as suitable for the occasion can be auditioned during the consultation.

which is fine for the concert hall but out-of-place for wedding ceremonies.

These are older pieces, tried and true, but I'm happy to play modern songs (Coldplay, Norah Jones, Greenday, etc.) upon request, plus just about any other popular music {light jazz standards, love songs, movie themes, CCM/praise} that has been published! For example, take a look at a more contemporary program I played in May 2007 for a wedding in Benton Chapel {click on floral design below}.
